Travelling has always been one of our shared passions. In our first years together, many of the trips we made were for work. Now, we are fortunate enough to travel mainly for pleasure.

We particularly enjoy places off the usual tourist routes. Wildernesses and the hidden corners of countries have always attracted us, so it is probably no surprise that cold and mountainous regions hold a special fascination. The sea is another great passion.

But it is not only the wild places of the world that we enjoy. Whenever we have a few days to spare, we also love exploring cities and discovering what lies in their less familiar corners . An exceptional opera house, art gallery or restaurant is always a bonus. That said, many of our most enjoyable travel moments have been the simplest: walking through city streets, watching people and absorbing the atmosphere.

Writing is something Gavin has enjoyed since his school days, so perhaps it was inevitable that he would eventually begin writing about places. One result is a collection of short stories about London and Londoners entitled called Seasons in the City.  This website is another.

We created the site partly as a record for ourselves—a place to remember where we have been and what we have enjoyed. More importantly, we saw it as a wonderful way to share some of our adventures with friends and family.

If anything we have written helps you to plan a trip of your own, or inspires you to visit somewhere you might not otherwise have considered, it will give us great pleasure.
